Letting Go

Jan 31, 2025
We get so caught up in our stories, they are what we believe make us who we are.  They are our experiences yes, but they are often just things we have been told to believe. So why do they become so integral to our self-identity? And why do we focus more on the limitations they create than the possibilities? The failures rather than the successes? We often become so deeply intertwined with our narratives, both personal and collective, that they begin to feel like the core of who we are. But these stories, while sometimes comforting, can also trap us in cycles of repetition and stagnation and we must learn to let go.

Letting go is not about forgetting, nor is it about abandoning the lessons learned. It’s about acknowledging that you are not our past, and that your future is full of new opportunities to redefine yourself. But you can’t step into the future while holding on tightly to the pain of the past. Your world and your experiences are a reflection of your identity, so if you still identify with that pain you cannot free yourself from it and create all the new that you want.

So to step closer to a life that aligns with your soul’s true purpose - a life of freedom, creativity, and authenticity you have to empty the skeletons from your closet. When you let go, you create the space to expand, to evolve, and to embrace the life that was always meant for you.

There are three steps to letting go, the healing that comes from releasing the story; the belief that you deserve the future that you wish to create; and the belief that you can actually HAVE the future that you want.

It is easy to get stuck in a cycle of healing, working on releasing those limiting beliefs and reconnecting with our inner child, to feel whole and deserving, but when the things we want to manifest don’t come next we go back and assume that there is still something else, something hidden, maybe from past lives or generational wounding.

That would mean that we only deserve the future we want when we have healed from all the trauma we have been through and that doesn’t sound fair to me! What is actually happening is that we still haven’t changed our mindset enough to believe we can and will have the future we imagine, because remember your world is a reflection of your identity, as within so without… focusing on what you don’t have, what you want to call in brings more lack, it reinforces the narrative that it is not for you.

So to manifest you have to believe that you can have it, it can be your reality, your new story. And if it was your new story how would you feel? How would you act? Would your day to day change? Embrace those changes in mind, body and action now, don’t wait! Because then you will magnetise the future to you.

Let’s see how that works… what if the future you want is one where you are healthy and  strong. That is something you can have, so how would it feel to be healthy and strong? You would have more energy. How would you act? You would be more active, probably exercise but definitely a more active lifestyle because you feel so energised! How would your day to day life change? You would have a healthy way of eating (I don’t like the word diet), you would make time for exercise, you would probably prioritise sleep and spend less time doing the things you used to do to numb out and avoid life. So, guess what? If you believe you can be strong and healthy, and it’s what you actually want not what you think you should want, you can see that by acting like you already are that version of you, you are going to draw it to you.

I have digressed a little here from letting go, but I think you can see the progression that is possible, when you let go of the old stories and the victim mindset, and take responsibility for your actions going forward. Yes, some things we have been through hurt like hell and that is valid pain and you deserve to process that, but you do NOT deserve to have it shape the rest of your life. You deserve better, so much better, and by taking the lesson, resetting your boundaries and dropping the rest of the shit, you can create the space for something beautiful to come
